Gentlemen,
Tis June and the excitement of our magnificent and highly successful tour to Antwerp is dying down like the schlonger of a newly wed retreating to a lazy lob, it is time to re-ignite the beast for the next round.
Owing the success of last year's event and the threat of being sent to Walcot permanently by Tom Shaw I shall be organising this year's tour, ably assisted by Will Quibell.
Last Easter Cartagena came on tour to Lansdown and eventually were treated to a fun afternoon. It return they have offered us the chance to go to Southern Spain this season for them to host the return leg. Which we have accepted. Final dates have not been sorted yet, however it is most likely to be the same bank holiday weekend as this year, 2-5th May 2008.
Last year we ran a standing order system to help level out the hassles of payment by reducing it 'to one affordable monthly payment'. It seemed to be very warmly met by all those who employed it. Therefore we shall be running the same system again for those who wish to use it. Owing to the added cost of flying to Spain this season the initial price has been set at £30 a month for 11 months. This is not a final price yet as I have not fully priced tour out yet, however this price per person will definitely cover tour. Any extra cash based on gaining a reduced price will be handed back out.

Last year a HUGE number of people dropped out, more than eventually toured! This was obviously a lot more than we could have expected, therefore when people cancelled, especially late on, the club was unable to refund them. Fortuitously everyone seemed to be very understanding that late cancellations for something like tour are just the same as for any other kind of holiday. However in order that there be the minimum of confusion, I have consulted the Ladybird book of Philosophy and Confucius he say, man who pay up to day we book flights (Christmas time) he get money back, after that he pay for flight'. Reading further into the works of the great man, I found in chapter 5629 paragraph 42, line 5, he also declared in a mountain sermon, 'Once hotel booked, man must pay, even if the bed is unused'. I took this to mean that once something is booked after you said you were coming, it's yours. Feel free to sell it on, but its yours. Some people believe that it means you chat a bird up in Kelly's Irish bar you make her pay for the hotel room before having your way. Discuss.
